Each blind is made to measure, designed to fit your window with absolute precision. For a perfect fit and complete blackout, careful measuring and precise installation are essential.

Step 1: Measure the Recess Depth

Before measuring your window, check the recess depth to ensure there’s enough space for your blind to fit properly.

  • Minimum required depth: 3 cm (1.18 in).
  • Measure from the front edge of the recess to the shallowest point.

Watch for Obstructions

Common obstructions may include:

  • Window handles
  • Latches or locks
  • Crank winders or mechanisms

Measuring with Obstructions

  1. Measure the full recess depth, from the outer edge to the window glass.
  2. Measure the obstruction depth — from the window glass to the front of the obstacle.
  3. Subtract the obstruction depth from the total depth to find your clear space.

Important: You’ll need at least 3 cm (1.18 in) of unobstructed depth for a smooth, secure installation.

Step 2: Measure the Width

Since most windows aren’t perfectly square, take three measurements to ensure the most accurate fit:

  • Top of the recess
  • Middle of the recess
  • Bottom of the recess

Record the smallest measurement — this ensures your blind fits neatly even at the narrowest point.

Step 3: Measure the Height

Measure the height of your window recess in three places:

  • Left side
  • Center
  • Right side

Again, note the smallest value — it guarantees a perfect, tailor-made fit.

Avoid Common Measuring Mistakes

  • Never measure at an angle: keep your tape straight and level for true accuracy.
  • Don’t bend the tape: even a small curve can distort the result.
  • Round with care: if needed, round to the nearest 1/16 inch (or 0.1 cm).
